Changing the Name of this Blog

As year five of this blog is advancing, I decided to change the name to No War No Torture: No More Corporate Empire.  The wars and torture are done to serve that empire.  The things are all intertwined.  When the empire is stopped, the wars and torture will no longer be needed.

I am continuing to write about the remaining prisoners in the US torture camp at Guantanamo.   Most of them are held in defiance of US and international law, and were not “captured on the field of battle” as reported by the US, but sold by bounty hunters to fill up the camp that was prepared for al Qaeda leaders whom Cheney allowed to be air lifted out of Afghanistan to Pakistan.  They are for “show” to persuade people in the US that there is an “enemy” and that the wars abroad and the suspensions of civil liberties here are necessary.

The US invasions and occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq, its aggression on Syria, Pakistan and elsewhere, and its torture in sites all over the world should be investigated as crimes against humanity.  The current hypocrisy of the US in calling for the international court to investigate Qaddafi for such crimes is shameful. The US should be investigated. It is good to know that legal actions against the US go forward in Spain.

The only way for the US government to regain legitimacy is for those responsible for the crimes to be held accountable.  I hope to see it in my lifetime.

Ray McGovern, whose actions for peace and justice at this terrible time are related on this blog, always says he wants to be on the right side of history.  I do as well.  For the sake of my grandchildren who will likely live longer than I with the consequences of its current actions, I will continue to do what I can to stop US aggression and torture.
